How it all began.

1997

1997 was the year it all began. Global was founded in Leeds as a vehicle maintenance centre with a vision of a business built with a ‘can do’ attitude attracting loyal customers who appreciated quality service and honesty. While the business is now much bigger and diversified, these simple values underpin the way we do business today.

Having developed a reputation for being able to go the extra mile and doing things differently Global grew quickly and our customers stuck with us. The team expanded and some of our current key personnel joined the business. We continued to attract talent and with this came a greater level of capability. We developed a one-stop fleet solution and initially focused on Maintenance, Logistics and Storage, this soon became Fleet Management including Contract Hire and Daily Rental. Rather than focusing on how other operators worked, we walked our own path and focussed not on the established models but what the client wanted to achieve. This paid dividends and our unique, flexible, solutions-based approach went from strength to strength.

Continued growth.

2006

We grew quickly between 2005 and 2006 but in a way that was carefully managed. We developed the team and further invested in infrastructure, management and talent to serve a business that required scale. We wanted the thousands of drivers who now experienced Global’s services to feel like they were our only customer and enjoy their relationship with Global. We had managed to grow the business independently, with a reputation for being client-focussed and catering for corporates who saw mobility and fleet as a business-critical issues. We acquired and invested in a further 74,000 sq ft facility with good access to the A1, M1 and M62 motorways. This was followed by the purchasing of two additional buildings, increasing the footprint of 45,000 and 30,000 sq ft plus adjoining land by 2009.

2011

Our growth in Fleet Management culminated in our development of a fantastic facility which was formerly the Ring headlamps head office on Gelderd Road, Leeds. This included 160,000 sq ft internally, 11 bay workshops and overall space to store 1,000 vehicles.

2017

In early 2017 we decided to expand our activity in vehicle hire developing our relationships with the UK’s leading manufacturers. As one of the UK’s largest independent fleet management businesses, we have a reputation for delivering on demand and not just average cars but premium, highly specified vehicles–something the clients appreciated. We carried this reputation into the vehicle hire sector and built a large fleet of desirable vehicles, unlike traditional leasing firms and the broker community our business model is to hold large stocks of vehicles available for immediate use.

To achieve this we purchased The Hub in 2017 as our dedicated head office. Our office complex site here is home to our showroom, 100,000 sq ft of office space and 5 acres of car park where clients can come and discover the latest models from the world’s leading brands in one place. Our operation now means that we stand out from the crowd by holding very large volumes of premium stock across ten acres of secure compound including 260,000 sq ft indoor storage facilities in Leeds.

Global is Appointed Official Vehicle Partner to the 4th Edition of the Tour de Yorkshire.

Global continued its commitment to providing the highest level of service, investment in people and corporate social responsibility throughout Yorkshire – once again supporting Welcome to Yorkshire and being a member of Y30.

2019

Global to continue as Official Vehicle Partner to Leeds United Football Club for 2019/20 season. Proud sponsor Global now entered its fifth successive season

Global became the exclusive Official Vehicle Partner of the 16th edition of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open. Delivering a 30-strong fleet of luxury executive vehicles.

Welcome to Yorkshire and Tour de Yorkshire race organisers, Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O) will partner with Leeds based, Global for the second year running which will see Global provide the fundamental vehicle support throughout the race which takes place 2-5 May 2018, Global becoming the Official Vehicle Partner to TDY 2019.

Global, the highly renowned Leeds-based leading corporate mobility and fleet management provider, became official sponsorship of the 2019 UCI Road World Championships which take place in Yorkshire in September.

In December 2019 LDC made a significant investment in Leeds-based Global to support Geoff Bloore, Joe Bloore, Stephen Chater and David Sadler with accelerate its national growth plans.

New Global fully mobile enabled website launched to showcase broader range of services and an distinctively Global online vehicle showroom.

 

 

2020

In July 2020 Global agreed a new expanded four year partnership with Leeds Rhinos which included the renaming of the rugby East Stand as the Global East Stand. Global have partnered with the Club for nearly a decade and were proud to continue this long-term partnership.

Digital Expansion.

2021

Global launches new digital companion for all Global drivers called myGlobal.  Its packed with many useful features to access emergency contacts, find out what to do in an accident or breakdown, launched on Android and iOS.  The digital App is intended to cover most if not all eventualities.

Online Chat launched on website and myGlobal mobile App for customers, drivers and prospective clients to chat with the Global fleet team.

Global reaches new milestone, celebrating 25 years of innovation with its 25th Anniversary in February 2022.

2022/2023

Global publishes its first baseline Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) with commitments to net zero by 2050

Global has made a major investment in its electric vehicle charging infrastructure at The Hub at the beginning of 2022, futureproofing the business to handle even the most demanding level of charging as the electrification of the fleet continues at a rapid pace. Twenty-eight new state-of-the-art 22kW charge sockets across 14 dual socket chargers and a 150kW DC Hyper Charger. Furthermore Global has made a further major investment in its electric vehicle charging infrastructure at Global One with six new state of the art 22kWh EV chargers totalling 214kVA capacity

 

Global is the first leasing company to move to Conscious Carpet, via vGroup its mat supplier for sustainable solution.

Global undertakes first ESG audit and sets out plans towards net zero, with 100% renewable electric on both sites and developing clear focus across all areas of environmental, social and governance framework.
